Search Tips

Quickly find catalogue information or add a title to your shopping cart using

  • A Keyword Search
  • A Title Search
  • An Author Search
  • A Search by Topics & Practice Areas

Keyword Search

  1. Enter one or more words in the Keyword box. The search will look through all publication titles, author information, subject areas and descriptive paragraphs for any of the words entered.
  2. You may use a partial word search using an asterisk (*) before or after a word to return variations on the word (e.g. emp* will return “employee”, “employ”, “employment” etc.).
  3. Upon clicking on the search button, the search engine will return a list of titles related to your search word(s).

Note:

  • You may not see your search word(s) in the displayed title since the word(s) may have been found in the product’s descriptive paragraph, subject area or author information.
  • A “metaphone” method is used for fuzzy searches based on the way a word(s) might sound. It is useful when you are unsure of the spelling of a keyword. For example, the search for the keyword "employ" expands to "employee”, “employment” or “employement”.

Title Search

  1. Enter a partial or full title in the Title box (e.g. Employment Law).
  2. Upon clicking on the search button, the search engine will look though all publications for titles containing the exact phrase “Employment Law” .

Author Search

  1. Enter authors’ names as space-separated words (e.g. Smith Jones).
  2. Upon clicking on the search button, the search engine will look for publications written by Smith Jones, Smith or Jones.
  3. Select a subject by using the Topics & Practice Area drop down list (e.g. Employment Law).
  4. Upon clicking on the search button, the search engine will look for titles that appear in the “Employment Law” subject area.

Narrowing Down Your Search

You may narrow your down your search even further by adding words to additional fields to restrict the search. For example, if you enter Charities in the Keyword field, Employment Law in the Title field, Saxe in the Author field and select Charities from the Topics & Practice Areas list, your search will return title(s) that have “Employment” and “Law” in the title, “Saxe” in the author, “Charities” subject area and “Charities” in the descriptive paragraphs.
