Authoritative. Current. Reliable.
Halsbury’s Laws of Canada is the definitive general reference to the statutory and judicial law of Canada – and a premier research tool that belongs on the shelves of every well-equipped Canadian law library. It is the essential starting point for understanding any given legal topic, especially in those areas outside a practitioner’s own field(s) of expertise.
Users benefit from a clear exposition of every aspect of current Canadian law. Part of the renowned Halsbury’s Laws series, each title delivers a detailed narrative of a given subject area and provides straightforward answers to specific questions. This encyclopedic approach ideally suits users who seek both explanatory context and an unambiguous discussion of the black-letter law.
Truly national scope and jurisdiction-specific commentary provide a complete and integrated analysis of the law as it stands today. Each title is updated on an annual basis following its publication with a separate cumulative supplement that incorporates all significant legislative and case law developments. This convenient two-step process keeps users always current with relevant legal changes.
Each volume follows Halsbury’s time-tested philosophy and format:
- Concise and streamlined content — presenting a useful summary of the key elements of the law
- Precise writing style — delivering economy of expression while ensuring the subject matter is effectively covered in sufficient detail
- Definitive legal information — focusing on a black-letter statement of the law as it stands today
- A positive statement of the law — detailing what the law actually is, rather than offering a normative discussion of what it should be
- Comprehensive coverage of the subject matter — ensuring that every significant aspect of the topic is adequately covered
- An accessible format — built on a clean approach that presents information in digestible portions, large enough to show the bigger context, yet sufficiently compact to allow you to navigate easily through the subject matter
New commentary volumes are published throughout the course of each year, with publication of the main work scheduled to be completed in 2010. Update your law library today and save!
