Citations for Court Judgments and Tribunal Decisions Reported by LexisNexis Canada in Quicklaw Electronic Databases

  1. After the title of the decision, give the Quicklaw citation. The Quicklaw citation can be found in the Quicklaw document immediately after the title of the decision. It consists of the year in square brackets, the series abbreviation, and the number of the decision.

    Example: Smith v. Canada (Minister of Citizenship and Immigration)
    [1996] F.C.J. No. 1131

    [1996] = Year
    F.C.J. = Series abbreviation
    No. 1131 = Number of decision

  2. When the judgment contains paragraph numbers, specific references within the case should be cited as follows:

    Canada Post Corp. v. Pollard, [1992] F.C.J. No. 262 at para. 56 [plural: at paras. 56-62]
