United States Materials on Quicklaw: Introduction to the United States Legal System for
Canadian Researchers introduces Canadian Quicklaw users to the U.S. legal system and explains how to search
Quicklaw's U.S. statutes, regulations, and federal and state caselaw.
Part One outlines the structure of the federal government and summarizes the legislative and
administrative processes. The U.S. system is compared with the Canadian system. The training and reference manual
covers the codification of Public Laws and regulations into the United States Code and the Code of Federal
Regulations, and teaches users how to search and examine the Codes.
Part Two examines the U.S. federal and state court structure and describes Quicklaw coverage of
decisions from the United States Supreme Court, the 13 United States Courts of Appeals, and appellate courts from
all 50 states. The manual provides search tips that apply specifically to the Quicklaw U.S. collection.
