Quicklaw™ Customer Service

Technical Help - Downloading Instructions and Detailed Installation Instructions for Macintosh Power PC Users

To download using Netscape™ or Microsoft® Internet Explorer:

  1. Return to the previous page and click Download Software for Mac PPC (Binary) or Download Software for Mac PPC (Binhex).
  2. If the Save As window appears, select Desktop. Click Save.
  3. When the download is complete, close Netscape or Internet Explorer.

Detailed Instructions for Installing QUICKLINK PRO for Macintosh Power PC

  1. If your browser is not configured to automatically decompress downloaded archives, double-click the qlproppc.sea.bin or qlproppc.sea.hqx icon on your desktop or in your default download folder.

  2. Double-click the QUICKLINK PRO Installer icon in the QL PRO folder. Drag the QUICKLINK PRO icon onto your hard drive icon.

  3. You will be asked whether you are a customer under the Quicklaw™ Academic Program. If you have an educational account, click Yes; otherwise, click No.

  4. At the Quicklaw Connection window, select your connection scheme as follows:

    1. Select Direct dial to Quicklaw via modem to connect directly to Quicklaw. You will be asked whether you wish to connect through the QUICKNET™ network. Click Yes if you live in one of the following cities: Calgary, Edmonton, Fredericton, Halifax, Hamilton, Kingston, London, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec City, Regina, Saskatoon, Toronto, Vancouver, Victoria, or Winnipeg. Select the appropriate city, and click OK.

      If you do not live in any of the cities on the list, click No. Select Datapac and click OK. The Dial-up Number window will appear. Please call Quicklaw Customer Service to obtain the Datapac number for your area, or check your telephone directory for "Datapac". Enter the number in the Dial-up box. Click OK.

      OR:

    2. Select Access Quicklaw via Internet connection or cable modem to connect to Quicklaw using your Internet connection or a cable modem, and click OK.

  5. At the Baud Rate window, select your modem baud rate, and then click OK.

  6. The Install Complete window will appear when setup is complete. Click Quit.

  7. Close the QL PRO folder. Drag the icon into the Trash. Double-click your hard drive icon, double-click the QL PRO folder, then double-click the QL PRO icon.

  8. You will be asked whether a printer and a printer driver have been installed on your system. Select Printer if a printer has been installed or No Printer if a printer has not been installed.

  9. You may be asked to select the font and font size for Screen Format and HTML Format printing and saving. Click OK at all four selections.

  10. The Modem Settings window will appear. Click the down arrow for Modem and scroll until you see your modem make and model. If you do not know the brand name of your modem, click Generic. Click OK.

  11. If you need to dial to get an outside line, enter 8 or 9, followed by a comma and the phone number, in the Dial-up Number window.

  12. The QUICKLINK PRO launch bar will appear at the top of your screen. To connect to Quicklaw, click the CLASSIC INTERFACE button. Type your password at the QL Please Sign On prompt.

    QUICKTIP: Follow these steps if you would like your password to be entered automatically when connecting to Quicklaw:

    1. From the Setup menu on the QUICKLINK PRO launch bar, click Service Connections. Select Quicklaw. Click Open.
    2. Click User ID/Password. Type the information in the appropriate boxes. For example, if your password is 12345.000/abcdef, type 12345 in the ID/Account Number box; type 000 in the Sub-account Number box; type abcdef in the Password box. Click OK.
    3. Click Save.

  13. If the Quicklaw window does not fill your screen, from the Preferences menu click Screen Font Size. Select the largest font size available. Click OK.
