- Downloading Instructions and Detailed Installation Instructions
for Windows Users
To download using Netscape™ or Microsoft®
Internet Explorer:
- Return to the previous page
and click Download Software.
- If you are using Internet Explorer, select Save this
program to disk when the File Download window appears.
Click OK.
- At the Save As window, select Desktop in
the Save in box. Click Save.
- When the download is complete, close Netscape or Internet
Explorer.

Instructions for Installing QUICKLINK PRO for Windows 95, Windows
98, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP
- On your desktop, double-click the qlpro95.exe
or qlproNT.exe icon.
- At the WinZip Self-Extractor window, click Unzip.
When the files are unzipped, click OK.
- At the Welcome to the QUICKLINK PRO Setup Program window,
click Next.
- At the Choose Destination Location window, click Next.
- You will be asked whether you are a customer under the Quicklaw
Academic Program. If you have an educational
account, click Yes; otherwise, click
No.
Note: If you have a previous version of QUICKLINK
PRO installed on your computer, the Question window will appear
and ask you whether you wish to retain the Quicklaw connection
settings and scripts. If you would like to retain the previous
settings, click Yes; then, at the Information
window, click OK and go to Step 8. If you would
like to choose new settings, click No.
- At the Select Components window, either select Canada,
click Next, and go to Step 7; or select Other
Locations, click Next, and go to Step
8.
- At the Quicklaw Connection window, select your connection
scheme as follows:
- Select Direct dial to Quicklaw via modem
to connect directly to Quicklaw, and click Next.
Select your QUICKNET™ Dial-up city from the alphabetical
list of cities. To select a city after Montreal, select more
cities and click Next. Select the
appropriate city, and click Next.
If you do not live in any of the cities on the list, or you
cannot make a local call to any of these cities, select other
cities, and click Next. Go to Step
8.
At the QL Dial-up City window, if you need to dial to get
an outside line, select 8 or 9.
Otherwise, select No. Click Next.
At the Baud Rate window, select your modem baud rate, and
then click Next. If you do not know the baud
rate, click Next.
OR:
- Select Access Quicklaw via Internet connection or
cable modem to connect to Quicklaw using your Internet
connection or a cable modem, and click Next.
- The Information window will appear when setup is complete.
Click OK.
- A QL PRO window containing a QUICKLINK PRO icon
will appear. If you would like the QUICKLINK PRO icon
to appear on your desktop as a shortcut, click the icon and
drag it onto your desktop. Close the QL PRO window.
Note: If you do not create a shortcut, access
the program by clicking the Start button, Programs,
QL PRO, QUICKLINK PRO.
- To delete the installer, right-click the qlpro95.exe
or qlproNT.exe icon on your desktop. Click
Delete, and then Yes.
- To run the program, double-click the QUICKLINK PRO
icon. You will be asked to select the font and font
size for Screen Format and HTML Format printing and saving.
Click OK to select the defaults, or select
your preferred font and font size and click OK.
- If you selected Direct dial to Quicklaw via modem
in Step 7, the Modem Settings window will appear. Click OK.
- The QUICKLINK PRO launch bar will appear at the top of your
screen. If you have Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.01
or later, you can use the QUICKLINK Browser Interface (QBI)
by clicking the QUICKLINK BROWSER INTERFACE button
on the launch bar. To use the original Quicklaw Classic Interface,
click the CLASSIC INTERFACE button. Type your
password at the QL Please Sign On prompt, and press Enter.
QUICKTIP: Follow these steps to have your password
entered automatically when connecting to Quicklaw:
- From the Setup menu on the QUICKLINK
PRO launch bar, click Service Connections.
Select Quicklaw or Quicklaw Browser.
Click Open.
- Click User ID/Password. Type the information
in the appropriate boxes. For example, if your password
is 12345.000/abcdef, type 12345
in the ID/Account Number box; type 000
in the Sub-account Number box; type abcdef
in the Password box. Click OK.
- Click Save.
- If the Quicklaw window does not fill your screen when using
the Classic Interface, from the Preferences
menu click Screen Font Size. Select the largest
font size available. Click OK.
