I'm bringing an HTML Format document into Word or WordPerfect and the document contains gibberish or symbols.

This usually occurs with lower versions of Word or WordPerfect that do not support HTML. You may either print the document from QUICKLINK PRO or save it in Screen Format and then bring it into Word or WordPerfect.

You will need to change a printer setting in Windows 95 or Windows 98. This will not affect printing with other programs.

  1. In Windows 95 or Windows 98, click the Start button, then Settings, then Printers.
  2. Right-click the printer icon.
  3. On the File menu, click Properties.
  4. Click the Details tab.
  5. Click Spool Settings. Change "spool data format option" to RAW instead of EMF. Click OK.
  6. Click OK.

I am getting the message "Failed to access directory".

You will see this error message if the last folder to which you saved a document in QUICKLINK PRO has been deleted or moved. This occurs in QUICKLINK PRO version 1.02.06 or lower. You may wish to upgrade to the latest version of QUICKLINK PRO or follow the steps below.

  1. In Notepad, open the QL.INI file.
  2. Look for "datadirectory=".
  3. Delete everything on that line after the "=".
  4. Click File. Click Save.

The HTML Format printout has large left margins and large spaces between each word.
The Screen Format printout has gibberish with many number signs.

The two most common reasons for this are that the correct printer is not set as the default printer, or that the paper type or paper size is incorrect.

  1. In Windows 95 or Windows 98, click the Start button, then Settings, then Printers.
  2. Right-click the printer icon.
  3. From the File menu, ensure that Set as Default is selected.
  4. From the File menu, click Properties.
  5. Click the Paper tab. Ensure that the paper orientation is set for portrait, and that the paper size is 8 1/2 by 11. Click OK.

Please contact Customer Service for personal assistance.

QUICKLINK PRO stops while printing in HTML Format while connected to Quicklaw.

If you have 4 MB of RAM or less, you may not be able to print while connected. Try saving the document(s), disconnecting, then printing the saved file.

If you have more than 4 MB of RAM, please contact Customer Service.

When I print from database ABCD the documents aren't formatted properly.

In database ABCD, the margins are 80 characters wide. With the current font setting in QUICKLINK PRO, the left and right margin settings are too large to handle lines this wide. QUICKLINK PRO miscalculates the number of lines per page, resulting in incorrect formatting.

  1. From the Setup menu in QUICKLINK PRO, select Printing Options.
  2. Set the left and right margins to .50. Click Save.
